    Headset

Will the only headset available at launch for Ps4 be those earphones?

To get stereo sound and mic you need a 4 pole 3.5mm headset jack like what cell phones use. Most pc's use a separate 3 pole stereo and 3 pole mic. Most high quality older pc headsets used this or USB or in some cases even that to a USB adapter. Point blank your options in separate mini plug format are much greater. So..... I stopped by my local radio shack and picked up just what I needed RadioShack 1/8 inch 4-Pole Plug to 2 1/8 inch Stereo Jack Adapter : Insert cables | RadioShack.com for under 6 bucks. You can even do some options whee you use a completely separate headset and mic instead of a put together unit.
How to ensure you get to play our PS4 when you get home from work (Take the Controllers to work with you).. evil genius.

Turtle Beach PX22 worked right out of the box, no modifications necessary. They cost about $80.
