It depends what you mean by demise…

Lower sales, maybe. Will Wii U come in last this generation? Maybe. But you can't predict that based on launch. Wii U sold like 3 million at launch then came to a dead stop. Who's to say the others won't do the same?

It's just too hard to predict, I guess we'll have to just wait and see.

I also feel Microsoft will also be fine. The initial backlash from the kinects and drm protection caused gamers to react swiftly. I don't think it was a bad thing for gamers to react to Microsoft's policies for the Xbox one but I felt some of the reactions were based more so on being misinformed. As more detail become available gamers began to change their tune about Microsoft direction. I agree with Microsoft in several aspects of the future vision of gaming consoles. The market is heading towards multimedia, causal gamer are becoming integrated into the gamers community now then before and they are the ones that will dictate what are important features to have on a next gen console, so, from a business stand point I can relate to with their vision. Microsoft direction is to make a connective experience between tv and mobile. Microsoft preorders shows that they are relevant. That where it's your choice to choice a console of your liking.

Now listen, after some of you are reading my post your probably thinking I'm am buying an Xbox one. But I am more interested in a ps4. I wanted to be apart of the ps4 community again after missing out on some of the cool games from naughty dog and other games on that were featured on the ps3. I think either way as a gamer you are not going to come up empty handed.

The wii u failure will be to the Xbox one and the ps4, the system is mostly failing to the constantly improving mobile and tablet market. In addition, to Nintendo's lack of support by developers.

The Wii U is only getting warmed up and its going to get even better next year. Releases like Mario Kart 8 and super smash brothers and the new xenoblade the console's future is looking bright. And hopefully they come up with some new IPs

It probably won't burn up the sales charts, but as someone who bought a Wii U at launch, I can say I've had a blast with it and really enjoy it - especially with the great software that has come out recently. Off-TV play is a great feature.

And now skylanders bundles for 299?
They will never bring over the shooter crowd, but I am glad I have one for wwhd and mk8 when it comes out.
I don't think any hardcore gamer would be satisfied with just the wii u, but also I wouldn't be satisfied with just the ps4...
I have been playing pikmin 3 this last week and have to say I am impressed. Ninty has quirky , perhaps kiddie type games like knack, but to me, they are also too damn fun to pass up.
Nintendo is slowly bringing in the shooter crowd.... maybe.
Just noticed that COD Ghost will be on the Wii U. Haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64, and I kind of miss Smash Brothers. Maybe PS Allstars will be a good alternative when it hits PS4 soon.

I feel once the sales pick up for the wii u, developer & publisher will begin to start or resume developing new ips for Nintendo. I really do like the fact that Nintendo did try to compete with sony & Microsoft but they do have an uphill battle. I think they need to reduce the price of their system in order to make it more enticing for potential buyers. Maybe offer a system without the huge controller (which I personally think feels a bit gimmicky) and replace it wii u pro controller.

Still to early to say. It's all about the games and the new experiences. Nintendo still has a shot but currently I'll say Sony clearly has the momentum.
